Fundraiser in West Point with Special Guests Gov. Dave Heineman & Debra Bosshart

On Monday evening August 30, over 65 people enjoyed a special time and great fun at the Lydia Brasch For Legislature Fundraiser. The event, held at the Nielsen Community Center in West Point, was a great success. Please see the photo slideshow of the West Point fundraiser. A patriotic theme prevailed with Red, White & Blue everywhere, thanks to the creative skills of Karen and Kara Baumert. There was plenty of food prepared by Valeria Schlecht and Mary Lauritzen, who now have fundraiser food prep down to an art. No one went thirsty, thanks to Ed Kaup, who set up the beverage bar and provided something for everyone.

Gov. Heineman had the opportunity to visit with just about everybody, and Deb Bosshart, primary candidate for the District 16 Legislative seat was recognized for her commitment and dedication. Gov. Heineman expressed his gratitude for those who are willing to step forward and commit to public service. Lydia Brasch spoke about her motivation to run and thanked her volunteers and supporters. Deb Bosshart spoke of the great lessons learned in conducting a campaign and running for office.

The Cuming County Choraliers brought their special talents with two medleys of American music, that combined patriotic hymns and the themes of each branch of the Armed Forces. An added touch was honoring veterans of each branch by asking those in attendance to step forward and be recognized as each theme was sung. Food, Fun & Funds – thanks to the generosity of the supporters – made for a memorable and beautiful August evening as we officially kick off campaign season.
